Coach Sees No Effect on Beer Situation
TULSA, OK - The Allan Metalworks softball team received some bad news when it was learned that their star power-hitting shortstop Alex Fisher had dislocated his shoulder playing with his seven year-old son. This just days before the team was to begin their playoffs against Lighthouse Landscaping.
The Spiders, as they like to call themselves, had just finished the regular season atop the Tuesday Night City Co-ed Rec League Standings and were favorites to win the league championship. However, this recent setback may open the door for the second place Bartlesman and Associates Softball team to be crowned champs.
Light-hitting right fielder Becky Norris of the Spiders expressed her disappointment, "Well there will still be beer at the game, right?"
Spider Manager Terry Buckwalter will have to juggle the lineup, "I dunno, I guess I will put Eric at short and move Bethany to left and Josh's brother-in law may come play with us so I don't think it will be a real problem. It's not like Alex was supposed to bring the beer anyway. I think Lawrence and Angela are bringing it this week."
Lawrence Haspee confirmed this, "Yeah, Angela and I are gonna bring the beer. Not sure what kind yet, probably some Miller or Coors."
A distraught Fisher, who had six home runs in last weeks pummeling of First District Realtors, explained that he was wrestling around with his son Tyler when the accident occurred. "Yeah, sure I wish I could play, but I should be fine for next season. I'll probably still go and cheer the team on and have a couple of beers."
The coach for Lighthouse Landscape, Kip Kendry, said he had not heard about the injury but did not plan on making any changes, "No I think we are still going to bring some Rolling Rock and some Coors Light to the game. I don't see that changing at all."
