It is apparent that in all the major sporting leagues that too many losing teams are not scoring enough runs, points, or goals to win. It is disheartening to see so many teams and players failing to score adequately.
Maybe they don't care or maybe it is a major shift in the way these games are played that the current strategy has lost it's focus on losing team's scoring enough points to win. This is a disturbing trend and one that needs to be reversed, because it is obvious that unless the root cause of losing - lack of scoring enough - is addressed, these teams will continue to lose.
Why losing teams are failing to score enough to win is hard to say. Several teams, are scoring more then enough to win. So it clearly is not an impossible task, but one the losing teams have failed to accomplish. As fans we do not like to see losing teams continually failing to win. And for all the analysis on talent and play making the real cause is lack of points, run, or goals.
Surely the leagues must realize this fact themselves, but apparently are unconcerned. Some have even stated that they felt that losing teams inability to match scoring with their opponents is simply inherent in the way the games are played.
But this argument that simply because this is the way it has always been, this is the way it will always be, simply does not hold up to scrutiny. Simply put, if losing teams scored more points they would win. The question is not what is the problem, but how do we solve it. We feel the various leagues need to be more creative in dealing with this lack of losing team scoring that is plaguing the sporting world.
