Someone Was Sitting In His Seat
|
PORTLAND, OR - Francis Jerrods was dismayed to find someone was sitting in his seat at a recent Portland Trail Blazers game against the Sacramento Kings. Jerrods, who normally sits in section 104, row 4, seat 6 was not sitting in the occupied seat.
"At first it was just kind of weird, because normally it is me in that seat and when I walked in I noticed that it wasn't me in that seat," a dismayed Jerrods reported.
Jerrods decided to check his ticket stub and confirmed that there was someone in his seat. "I was pretty confident that that was my seat, but I wanted to make absolutely sure. I was dismayed"
Jerrods friend, Anthony Mirnehla, with the adjacent seat 5, confirmed the discomfort the incident caused, "It was pretty unsettling to have someone else sitting in your seat. I wasn't sure what to do, my seat was empty, but Francis had a real problem on his hands."
The dilemma was a new one for Jerrods who contemplated his options, "I thought maybe I would have to go home. Or possibly, although this really never crossed my mind, I might sit in a different seat."
Mirnehla suggested getting an usher, but then Jerrods took the somewhat surprising tack of actually approaching the man in his seat.
"Yeah, I was nervous at that point. I didn't know what Francis was gonna say," said Mirnehla.
"Well I wanted to tell him to get out of my seat, but didn't know if I could back that up with anything. All I had was the stub, right"
"So I just blurted out, luckily it turns out, 'I think you are in my seat'," continued Jerrods. Luckily for everyone involved the matter ended peacefully. Jerrods described what happened.
"The guy apologized and said something about just moving down to see the warm-ups. He got up and moved to another seat, I have no idea if it was his seat or not."
Both Jerrods and Mirnehla were relived the matter ended the way it did, but are not sure they will be so lucky next time.
"In a situation like that you just don't know what to expect. It could have blown up, hopefully we won't ever have that happen again," a relieved Jerrods said.
