Quarter Million Gather in LA To Celebrate Pacers Loss

LOS ANGELES, CA - An estimated 250,000 people gathered in downtown Los Angeles to celebrate the NBA Finals defeat of the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers, led by Coach Larry Bird and sharpshooter Reggie Miller, were defeated in the Finals by the Los Angeles Lakers, four games to two. The rally in non-support of the Indiana Pacers was peaceful, and without incident as people from all walks of life, all creeds, and races gathered for the common cause.

The rally was preceded by parade not featuring the non-Champion Indiana Pacers. Loudspeakers didn't play usual favorites like "We Are the Champions" and "Celebrate". Instead the crowd was serenaded with repeated and non-stop playing of the Beck tune "Loser"

"This is awesome, Pacers aren't number one!" exclaimed one enthusiastic fan.

Brittney Larsen of Santa Monica was also on hand, having taken an extended lunch break to be there. "This is so much fun, and it's all thanks to the Pacers ineptitude! I hope they don't do it again next year!"

Several fans were wearing clothes that did not support the Pacers at all, there was no one wearing a Pacers jersey or waving a Pacers pennant. Several fans held signs to show their enthusiasm over the Pacers loss, including one that aptly, if someone childishly, read "2000 NBA World Champion Indiana Pacers...Not!"

The Pacers failed to win the Championship thanks in large part to the lack of clutch shooting late, slipshod execution, poor clock management and although they showed some heart and desire, clearly those intangibles could not hide the fact that the Pacers were not a Championship caliber team.

The Pacers losing effort gave some fans enough confidence to start making predictions for next year.

"Back-to-back, baby! The Pacers ain't winning it again next year, I guarantee that!" enthused Tyler Riley of La Brea.

Not repeating sure seems to be in the cards for the Pacers who have to face several decision in the off-season about how to either keep this losing team together or to restructure it.
