For all the mirth behind its name, the Brazilian Butt Lift is considered among today’s riskiest plastic surgeries; accordingly, the medical industry recommends that only a few surgeons offer it. Sam Jejurikar is one such physician. Dr. Jejurikar, who maintains offices in Dallas and Plano, Texas, is one of the few professionals trained in gluteal augmentation, and he has become an advisor and teacher of doctors who seek to perform it. The surgery features grafting (relocation of fat) through liposuction rather than implants; the up side to this is that patients are at liberty to tailor their bodies.
But grafting can cause embolisms (blockage-causing pieces of material) inside vessels, and this can pose severe danger if not intervened with. Dr. Jejurikar takes this risk very seriously and has made safeguards against embolisms a principle in his work. Accordingly, he is a member of the Multisociety Gluteal Fat Grafting Task Force, which focuses on awareness of the surgery’s risks and demands and on educating the doctors who seek to perform grafts.
In addition to his standing as a highly regarded plastic surgeon, Dr. Jejurikar has participated in several international medical missions, including trips to aid impoverished Bangladeshi children through the group Smile Bangladesh. Beyond that, Dr. Jejurikar’s practice includes the spectrum of plastic surgery, with an emphasis on cosmetic procedures, including breast augmentation, lifts and tummy tucks. He is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Dallas Society of Plastic Surgeons.
