Dr. S. Mark McKenna is licensed as a general practitioner by the Louisiana State Board and the Georgia State Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. McKenna graduated from Tulane University Medical School, New Orleans and completed his training at Tulane University Hospital and Clinic. After his training, he worked with his father who was a medical physician. During this period, he also started an investment firm called Dr. McKenna Venture Investments. Remaining in the real estate development business for several years, he further acquired other investment companies.
In the fall of 2005 when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, Dr. McKenna’s business entities were also negatively impacted but he stayed to help redevelop low to moderate income housing. In 2007, Mark McKenna, MD moved to Atlanta, Georgia and began a wellness practice called Shape Med which was sold seven years later to the Life Time Fitness company. Dr. McKenna remained a part of this change by becoming the company’s National Medical Director for two years (2016).
Having a profound interest in innovations taking place in healthcare, in 2017, he founded OVME, LLC., based in Atlanta. Under his leadership OVME become a nationwide DTC (direct-to-consumer) company that connected consumers and notable health care providers which provides the best in health-aesthetic care. OVME grew exponentially and holding true to his enjoyment of moving forward in healthcare advancements, he sold the practice. When asked how he has grown his businesses so quickly and successfully, Dr. McKenna responded that he surrounds himself with people who are smarter than he is, plus he takes time out to meditate which gives him the environment to set formula for success goals.
Dr. McKenna is touted as having a great bedside manner toward his patients and clients. Wherever Mark McKenna lives, he dedicates much of his time with local community charities. Dr. McKenna is married with a daughter and are proud parents to their family doggy pet. Dr. Mark McKenna enjoys working with the Entrepreneurs Organization. While living in Louisiana, he served as a board member of the New Orleans Jazz Festival and the New Orleans Industrial Development Board.
