Mark Holyoake is the owner and current leader of Oakvest Holdings, a private equity fund that focuses on real estate investments and private equity. Mark Holyoake has had an extensive history in investing in commercial and residential properties since the early 1990s and focuses much of his time in the international food industry. Mr.Holyoake began his career shortly after he graduated from the University of Reading with an MBA. Since then, Mark Holyoake has created an extensive investment portfolio. We recently sat down with Mark Holyoake to go a little more in-depth about his very successful career.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Mark Holyoake states that when you run multiple ventures all over the world, there isn’t exactly a typical day in his life. Therefore, he often keeps himself very flexible, even during the most planned out days. However, Mr.Holyoake adds that on a personal level, he likes to wake up bright and early as this is the time when he is most productive. Mr.Holyoake concludes by stating that although his days are filled with answering emails and running from meeting to meeting, he always makes sure to make time for his family at the end of the day.
How do you bring your ideas to life?
Ideas can only come to fruition if there is a collective agreement amongst your team, says Mark Holyoake. He adds that it is almost impossible to force your team to work on a project that either they don’t think is right or feel no passion for. A good plan can only come to fruition when all concerns have been laid out on the table, and everyone is in agreement, says Mark Holyoake.
What is one trend that really excites you at the moment?
Mark Holyoake comments on the ever growing concern for our overall health and wellness. Mark Holyoake brings to attention that today, 8.5% of the world is 65 years and over with that number expected to rise by 17% in the near future. This concentration of living longer will no doubt increase the opportunities for investors looking to work within the food industry says, Mark Holyoake.
