OSI Group McDonalds opens up on how it makes its hamburgers

Hamburgers are not just an American favorite but also a global one. McDonald’s, one of the world’s most successful fast-food franchises is the biggest seller of hamburger. The company revealed in one of its reports that it sells more than 75 burgers every second in the United States alone. The success of these burgers has also brought with it a lot of scrutiny for the company. Recently, OSI Group McDonalds offered a tour of its Gunzburg factory in German to the media. The was in an effort to open up on how it makes its hamburgers and dismiss the unfound criticism.

Prioritizing hygiene

Eunice Koekkoek, the OSI Group McDonalds liaison pointed out to the media during this Gunzburg factory tour that the company prioritizes hygiene over everything else. This means that from the first step when the meat enters the factory, it is subjected to the highest standards of cleanliness. The employees of the factory have to wear protective clothing and thoroughly wash their hands before handling the meat. The employees are required to wash their hands regularly as they work.

According to this OSI Group McDonalds liaison, the hamburger making process begins with sorting out the bones from the meat. This also makes sure that the meat is free of any contaminants. The employees of this factory are also not allowed to work with their jewelry or plastic pens. Testing and tasting

One of the most pivotal points in the making of burgers by OSI is the testing and tasting. This happens on every batch that the company makes and it meant to ensure that the burgers are safe and of the highest quality. Out of every batch that the Gunzburg factory makes, a few samples are picked for the testing and tasting. Testing involves verifying that the mat has the right amount of fat which is set at 20%. In tasting, the burgers are grilled and tasted to make sure that their taste, structure, and texture are up to par with the company’s standards.
