Russell Gimelstob Receives High Honor


Russell Gimelstob has built an amazing career in the world of athletics. That career was recently recognized in a major way when Gimelstob was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. This recognition came during halftime of a boys basketball game on February 22, 2013. This honor is given to students, athletes, administrators, teams and even athletic directors who have achieved excellence in sports. These individuals often have shown leadership and sportsmanship at a high level.

Russell Gimelstob had an amazing career at Newark Academy. He attended the school from 1995 through 1997. During his time at Newark, Gimelstob was a member of four state championship teams. His teams also won the Tournament of Champions on three different occasions. He also was selected to the All-State team four times.

Gimelstob’s career at Newark paved the way for success in college. Gimelstob attended Cornell University where he continued his athletic success. During that year Gimelstob was undefeated in Ivy League play. He also represented Cornell in the NCAA National Doubles Tournament. His impressive career also included being named team captain his senior year. Russel Gimelstob not only exceled on the field, but off it as well. After his sports career Russell Gimelstob continued to excel. His resume includes a number of leadership positions. Gimelstob has executed investments for company Dune for more than twelve years. He held the position of Head of Acquisitions for the company in 2017.

He is also a member of the Fisher Center Policy Advisory Board at the University of California Berkeley. Russell Gimelstob has built an impressive career over the last two decades. He continues to work to be an innovator in his space.
