The company was founded in 1986 by Frank Wright and Steven Kumble. Frank Wright previously worked with Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company for 31 years. He managed the finance division and specialized in the financing of leveraged buyouts. He passed away in 1992 and Steven Kumble left the company in 2005 to start Corinthian Capital. TJ Maloney became the CEO in 1998, with Michael Lyons as the President.

TJ Maloney, a financial veteran, who was the Chairman of the Boston College Wall Street Council. He was also a vital member of the Board of Trustees at Fordham University and Boston College.
